King Shaka International Airport Opens

I made a turn past the new King Shaka International Airport in Durban this morning. The first plane was scheduled to take off at 6:30 and did so on the dot. There was a huge crowd of people who came to see this historic occasion.

Below is an interactive pano of the entrance to the new airport. Be sure to click the fullscreen option to get a better idea of the size. Or you can go here -> https://www.marcforrest.com/KSIAPano to see the full interactive pano. Also check Flickr for the full size image. A BIG BIG thank you to in3sixty for this awesome service, which I am busy testing

First Flight gone

The airport looks fantastic, and to me, looks fully completed. The parking was a breeze and getting to the terminal was along a paved walkway sourounded by a gorgeous landscaped garden. The interior of the building also looks great.

I can’t wait to get on my first flight out of here, and given that it’s only 15 mins away from my doorstep, I think I may be spending a bit more time here in the near future :)
