  • How to Install the Binance iOS app on your iPhone

[Edit 11 Jan 2018] – After numerous reports that the Binance app is no longer working on iOS, it looks like they have finally re-published it to the iOS app store. You can download it from here

So after I wrote my post the other day on How To Buy Altcoins In South Africa, I chatted to one of my friends who asked if had an app. And the answer to that is a resounding YES!! In fact they have an awesome app that allows you to view the exchange and trade as well! You can download the app from the iOS app store ->

Installing the app is a little bit tricky, as it is not available on the iOS app store for anyone to download. You have to download it from the Binance App site, and then give it the correct permissions to run on your device.

I put together a quick little demo on how to do this on your iPhone

    1. Visit https://www.binance.com/ios-install.html to download the app or snap the QR code below if you on a PC
    2. You will see the Binance App on your phone.
    3. Once you click it to open it, it may give you an error, which is quite simple to get around
    4. Go to Settings -> General -> Device Management
    5. You will see an entry under there titled “Hunan Shituo Technology Development Co LTDor “Shenzhen Posun Industry Co., LTD”
    6. Click on this and then click “Trust Hunan Shituo Technology Development Co LTD” or “Shenzhen Posun Industry Co., LTD”
You will see under this there is an icon for the Binance app that says Verified. This means Apple has verified the app to run on Apple devices.
    7. One you have done this, you can open the Binance app and login in with your credentials.

Using the Binance App, you can view your portfolio & trade using any of the coins on the exchange. You can also view graphs and set time stops on the graphs

All in all a very simple app, but makes trading on Binance so much easier!

  • How to buy Altcoins like Ethereum, Litecoin & IOTA in South Africa using Binance

How to buy Altcoins like Ethereum, Litecoin & IOTA in South Africa using Binance

I’ve had a lot of people asking me recently about Buying Altcoins in South Africa. Altcoins are the “alternative crypto currencies” other than the popular Bitcoin. These include coins like , , , and thousands of others. According to CoinMarketCap, a website that tracks all Crytpo Currencies, there are over 1355 coins available to purchase and trade.

So, I have used a couple of exchanges over the last year to buy and I have been using the for quite a while now. Currently they have around 85 different Crypto Currencies available for purchase on the exchange. This doesn’t seem like a lot given there are around 1355, but I can assure you these are the coins that matter.

The fee structure is pretty unique in that you can pay for fees using the Binance coin , and it allows you 50% off your fees. This is really handy if you looking to save a bit of cash especially on the smaller trades.

One side note. To buy these coins on Binance you need Bitcoin or Ethereum. In South Africa, you need to purchase your Ethereum Or and then transfer it to Binance. The issue comes in when you trying to transfer smaller amounts as the Network Fees on Bitcoin are quite high at the moment. So my suggestion is to buy Ethereum on Luno and then transfer to your Binance wallet and purchase there. The Ethereum Fees are a lot lower and also the transfer is a lot quicker.

They are also listing new Coins all the time, and also have some really cool competitions on. They recently gave away a C-Class Mercedes Benz!!!

So if you looking for a decent, stable exchange to buy Crytpo Currencies, then I would highly recommend !

  • How to buy WAVES Platform Coin in South Africa

How to buy WAVES Platform Coin in South Africa

I’ve been looking at the WAVES Platform for a while now. In a nutshell, WAVES is a decentralised platform where you can create your own crypto token, and it has it’s own decentralised exchange (WAVES Dex) launching VERY soon! This means you can have your own cryptocurrency and have an exchange to let people trade it on! It is also currently ranked 22nd on Coinmarketcap. They also seem to have quite a lot of stuff in the pipeline in the next couple of months

    How does WAVES work ?

    Wave-Platform-Working

You can use & store WAVES in a number of different ways.

There are also a number of exchnages which allow you to purchase WAVES, and trade with it. My suggestion is to look at Bittrex. You can easily buy Bitcoin on Luno, and then transfer it to your Bittrex account ,which then allows you to trade and purchase WAVES. There is talk of the guys at the will also be adding sometime in the near future EDIT: have recently added as a coin to purchase. Great news!! And the volumes are also great!!

You can also use a number of other instant buy & sell options to buy WAVES

Changelly allows you to purchase using your VISA or Mastercard directly on the platform. You will need a WAVES address which you can get from one of the wallets above

You can also buy WAVES directly on https://waveswallet.io/ or thorough Shapeshift.io. I prefer using Changelly though as the exchange rates are much better.

Another way is to buy WAVES directly on the decentralised Exchange – https://wavesplatform.com/get-waves

WAVES is often compared to ETH but I still think it has a long way to go, but it has loads of potential. Keep your eyes on WAVES

  • SACrypto – South African Crypto Community

SACrypto – South African Crypto Community

It’s been a while since I’ve written about Bitcoin and other Crypto Currencies. I previously wrote in January about “How To Buy Bitcoin in South Africa” and since then I’ve learnt so much.

There are so many different Crypto currencies out there, and each one has a different objective. I’ve learnt how to do some trading, buy some really bizarre coins, and make an extra little bit of cash. The key to this all is to keep learning about what is happening in Crypto Land. Every day something new comes along and can change the face of Crypto quickly.

A few months ago a friend of mine chatted to me about a community he was wanting to setup in South Africa called SACrypto. The community would be the leading Crypto community in South Africa, where people freely share knowledge & insight into what they had been learning. So we started growing the community with a couple of other guys, and am really proud of how the community and platform has grown in the last few months.

We have 3 different communities all based on instant messaging platforms, as well as a Facebook Group. We have  a which allows everyone from newbie to expert to join in and learn more about Crypto. This group has proved valuable especially for people just starting out in Crypto and getting lost in some of the jargon.

We also have a growing community of enthusiasts. This group, also on Whatsapp, shares so much knowledge about mining Crypto and what to mine and what hardware to mine with. Admittedly, some of this stuff is a bit over my head, but these guys genuinely know what they talking about. If you into Crypto Mining, this is the place to be!

Then finally, we have the awesome South African Crypto Traders group. We recently had to move this group over to the Telegram platform, as we had reached our max capacity on Whatsapp and people were begging us to join. This group has a LOT of clever people in it. A lot of the people in the group have made some good money, just by following the calls in this group. I have enjoyed been a part of this specific group, as I have personally learnt so much!

So, if you are interested in anything about Bitcoin, Ethereum or anything Crypto, this is the place to be!

You can join the groups here

  • Buying Bitcoins in South Africa

    Buying Bitcoins in South Africa

If you been following the trends online you will see Bitcoin is becoming more and more prevalent in today’s day and age. I can’t profess to know too much about Bitcoin or what it means for the future (there are some very clever people out there who do know) but I realised that it might be worth getting on the Bitcoin bandwagon sooner rather than later. The price of Bitcoin is currentley at it’s highest and is moving on up!

Bitcoin is a virtual currency that was created in 2010, and allows people to use it online to pay for things. In some places you can even use it as real world currency, so it is gaining traction.

I have been doing a bit of reading and digging to find out how to buy bitcoins in South Africa. Obviously, Bitcoins are quite pricy for 1 BTC (around R14,000 at the time of writing) so you can buy in smaller fractions, and I suppose eventually work your way up to full Bitcoins.

    Bitcoin Wallets

The first thing you need is a . There are a number of ways you can do this, like storing them on your PC, online or even in a community or buyers. I wanted something simple, so after a bit of digging I came across . This is an online Bitcoin wallet which allows you to store you Bitcoins safely and securely. The only thing you can’t do is buy and sell Bitcoins through . This is not too much of an issue though, as you can still send & receive bitcoins

    Purchasing Bitcoins

Once you have your Bitcoin wallet setup, you will then need to start . Now this is not as simple as walking into a bank and buying foreign currency, as there are a number of bitcoin exchanges where you buy and sell bitcoin. One of the more popular exchanges in SA is called Luno, although I haven’t used it (yet)

After some digging around I eventually found a platform called  which allows you to purchase Bitcoins either in your currency or using online payment platforms like PayPal. I found a trusted seller in South Africa where I could pay via EFT, and bought R150 worth of bitcoin. This only works out to a measly 0.0106 BTC, but hey it’s a start :)

I went through the motions and did an EFT and the Bitcoins were deposited into my  account. I then was able to move them over to my wallet where I can monitor them. The key to this site is to ensure you are buying from a trusted “seller” All sellers have ratings and the site is closely monitored for fraud etc.

There are also international sellers who allow you to pay via PayPal, but you have to ensure you have a verified account before you can proceed with these. The only con against using something like is that the price you are buying the bitcoins for is a lot higher than the going published bitcoin rate. As an example when I bought mine the “official” bitcoin price was around R14,000 but the going rate on was around R16,000, so you definitely get the shorter straw.

There is another way to buy Bitcoin using PayPal, using a site called , but it is quite a trick to get it right, and also a couple of fees and takes a while to get authorised. I will do another post on this way soon, and also test it out to see if it works.

Disclaimer: As I said above I am absolutely no professional on how Bitcoin works, and what the ins and outs are. These posts are merely my research into how it all works, and can’t gaurantee anything. I am testing the waters to see what all the “hype” is about. I’ll be updating the blog with some of my findings as I go along :) I will also be enabling comments on this post for disucssion if anyone has some info or tips about Bitcoin
