  • Standard Bank Pro20 2010

photoThe time has come for us to live and breath the excitment that is Pro20 cricket. The 2010 Pro20 season kicks off today (Wednesday) here in Durbs, and I’m sure this year is going to be a CRACKER of note. The finals are on Friday the 12th of March, so within a month, we will have the whole series wrapped. To check out the full list of fixtures, click here to download a PDF copy of the fixtures

Standard Bank have chose a Rockstar theme for this year, so I’m pretty sure we will see those luverly dancers back in action, as well as the cricket of course. Last year I blogged most of the games in Durbs, and I will be back in action this year, assisted by Justin McCall who will also be covering some of the Durbs games.

I am really looking forward to it, and will post a couple of the pictures of the games I attend this season.

  • Standard Bank Pro20 Final

Last night was probably the most unbelievable game of cricket I have ever seen in my life.

This years Pro20 has been awesome, and having been to 4 of the games to blog for Standard bank, last night took the cake.

The Dolphins managed to tie the game off the last ball against the Cape Cobras, which meant that the game went into a Power over playoff. Unbeknown to most of the crowd in Durban at the time, was that the game in PE, where the Warriors were taking on the Eagles, also went into a Power Over playoff.

It was amazing stuff, and both teams really fought it out to the end. At the end of the day the Cobras took the game in Durban, while the Eagles won in PE.

So that means on Saturday the Eagles will travel to Cape Town for the Standard Bank Pro 20 Final. It’s going to be KABOOM !!!!

  • Pro20 Semi Finals

Yesterday the Warriors & Dolphins secured their semi final berths against the Eagles & Cobras, in this years 2009 Standard Bank Pro20

The Dolphins beat the Lions by 8 waickets while the Warriors restricted the Eagles to the required 150 runs.

The format for the semi finals have changed this year, whereby the teams play a best of 3 games, to determine who will go through to the final.

The Dolphins will be taking on the Cobras in Cape Town on friday with the return leg in Durban on Sunday afternoon.

The Eagles will host the Warriors in Bloem on Wednsday and the return game in PE will be on Sunday starting at 11.

It’s going to be an interesting couple of games, with the new format, as either team will have some sort of an advantage going into the 2nd game. Keep your eyes on the Pro20 blog, or for live updates from the games, follow @Pro20 on twitter

  • Standard Bank Pro20 Series 2009

Pro20The 2008 Standard Bank Pro 20 series is almost upon us.This year promises to be a cracker with more Kaboom. I have been asked to blog at the games in Durban again, and can’t wait to get there.

The first game kicks off in a weeks time, on the 21st of January, at St Georges Oval, with the Chevrolet Warriors up against defending champs from 2007, the Nashua Titans.

I am really excited, as 20/20 cricket is brilliant. Its fast paced, loads of atmosphere, and of course, we won’t forget the Pro20 Dancers :)

If anyone comes down to the Durban games, be sure to come say howzit :)

  • Standard Bank Pro20 Interview

This post is WAAAY overdue. Like Waaaay.Apologies

A few months ago I had the opportunity to do some live blogging from a few of the Standard Bank Pro20 games here in Durbs. At one of the first games, I was interviewed live on TV abut the blogging initiative. While my public speaking skills aren’t at my best yet (going to be working on that soon), I think I managed to pull it off OK with only 1 or 2 slip ups :)
