  • Fake Tilt Shift Photography

    I have been playing around more and more with my camera and spending more and more time on flickr and this weekend I came across Tilt-Shift Photography.
    This is an effect of taking a normal photo and converting it into a photo that looks like a scene from mini town, where everything looks miniaturized.

    There are 2 ways to do this. Either you can buy an expensive lens for your camera, or you can “fake it” and use good old photoshop. I went the latter for obvious reasons :)
    And this is what I managed to do. I don’t think its to bad. Check out my Flickr photo stream for a couple more I tried and lemme know what you think.

  • Springleap T-Shirt – e Sempowenis

    The August Springleap winner was announced a few days ago, and the winner, WolFox, came up with what I think is the best T-Shirt design I have ever seen.

    The e Sempowenis is the South African version of the ever popular Simpsons family from springfield. I have been a huge fan of the Simpsons since episode 1, so it was only right I ordered myself one of these awesome T-shirts.

  • Apple Splash

    My wife is doing a photography course through Wyhsalls, and one of her assignments was to take a photo with a fast shutter speed. So Saturday afternoon we sepnt trying to get an awesome shot. And finally we got one. I’m really stoked with this pic…stunning

  • Power Of 10 – M-Net Game Show

    I have just finished watching M-Nets latest game show called “The Power of 10”.

    The show, hosted by Mark Pilgrim, allows contestants to win up to R10,000,000. The show is pretty random in the fact that contestants have to guess the percentage of a responses of a question. For example a question in today’s show was “How many South African’s wash their hands after going to the toilet”. The contestant guessed between 49% & 69%. The actual answer was 90% which is quite an interesting stat.

    All in all I think the show is quite good, as it is based on a lot of luck. Keep your eye out on M-Net on a Sunday night for the “Power of 10”

  • Youtube – “We’re sorry, this video is no longer available”

    I’m getting pretty annoyed with the Youtube Error – “We’re sorry, this video is no longer available”- that seems to be popping up more and more regularly these days.

    So here are a couple of fixes:

    • Easiest way is to do a CTRL-F5 which will totally refresh the page from the Youtube Server
    • Append one of the following tags onto the end of the URL
      &fmt=6
      &fmt=18
      &fmt=16
      So the following URL -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJV_khosQCk would become http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJV_khosQCk&fmt=6
    • If you a SAIX ADSL account add the following proxy server into your settings in Firefox or IE
      dsl-cache.saix.net Port 8080
    • If you got any Firefox plugins like Google Download accelerator set them to bypass youtube.com domain.
