ENTRIES FOR THE 2012 iPhoneography Exhibition are now OPEN !! All the info @ http://iPhoneographySA.com

Following the success of the inaugural 2011 iPhoneographySA exhibition, MarcForrest.com & iStore have teamed up again to bring you the exciting 2012 edition of the exhibition.

This year promises to be a cracker event with events planned for Johannesburg, on the 11th October, & for the first time ever, in Cape Town on the 23rd October.

Entries will be open from Monday 27th August to Wednesday 26th September (JHB) & 8th October (CT) for submissions.

Anyone who has taken an iPhone photo, is eligible to enter, so please feel free to upload your images. We have opted to limit the entries this year to a maximum of 5 per person. Once entries have closed, a judging panel will go through all the images to see who goes onto to the final round of exhibting. For full guidelines on the 2012 exhibition visit your Guidelines Page

This year we have teamed up with the printing team from Printwild to ensure uniformity with the look & feel of the event, and ensuring all prints are delivered on time for hanging.

We are really excited about this years event, and look forward to your entries. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us on [email protected].

Stay tuned for updates on this site for more info closer to the time on the events that will be happening with our launch evenings.

  • Cell C announces iPhone pricing

Finally. Cell C has officially announced the availability of the iPhone on their network. It seems that Mr Knott-Craig is getting things done, and the iPhone will be available from today at all most Cell C stores.

The pricing and packages for the phones are very reasonable, and there is a much bigger focus on the data bundles as opposed to the other networks who give fairly minimal data bundles on their iPhone packages. They will also be offering the 8GB iPhone4 on a fairly low entry level package.

According to a post on MyBroadband, Cell C will be offering the following iPhone deals:

Looks pretty reasonable for the packages and the data bundles look pretty good as well. What you think ? Comments below…

  • The 2nd SA iPhoneography exhibition happening in October

You may recall last year myself and the team from the Core Group, put together the hugely successful 1st ever South African iPhoneography exhibition up in Joburg. The event went off without a hitch, and we got some awesome feedback from everyone who entered as well as visited the exhibition.

So when the team from the Core Group called me to ask me if I would be keen in help putting the exhibition together again this year, I immediately jumped at the opportunity.  So after a few meetings over the last couple of weeks we have got the ball rolling, and are very very exicited that 2nd South African iPhoneography exhibition will be happening in October !

The most exciting news is that this year, we have also included Cape Town as a exhibition venue, which, after going through last years feedback was a must to include. What this means is that Joburg entrants will see their artwork in Joburg & Cape town entrants will see theirs at the Cape Town exhibition.

We have confirmed the following dates & venues for this years events.

    Johannesburg
    iStore 1 Sandton Drive
    Opening 11 October
Exhibition stays up for 2 weeks

    Cape Town
V&A Waterfront – Exhibition Space in Mall
    Opening 25 October
Exhibition stays till the 29th October

We are currentley working on the finer details and will soon start asking you to submit entries. We have gone through all the cons from last years exhibition, and have streamlined the process a bit more. One of the major changes for this year will be, we are looking at 1 dedicated printer to bring all the printing to the same quality & standard, as well as ensuring the pieces are delivered in time before we need to hang.

So, get those iPhones out, and start snapping away ! Remember, this exhibition is for EVERYONE. You don’t have to be a professional to enter :)
If you have any suggestions or ideas, drop a comment below. If you would like to drop me a mail about the exhibtion, please do so at [email protected]

  • Parrot Minikit Plus Review

I recentley got the opportunity to review the awesome little Parrot Minikit Plus Bluetooth Handsfree kit.

This little gadget is a must-have if you are looking for a handsfree kit for the car. It has loads of extra cool little features, which for it’s price is well worth it. The ability to sync 2 phones to it shows how versatile it is, and uses 2 different ringtones to differentiate between the 2 connected phones.

The Parrot Minikit Plus also has the ability to sync your phones address book to the device, which makes calling a breeze using the built in voice recognition system. You can also use the dial on the device to skim through your contacts. The one thing I found to be super handy is that it has a built in vibration sensor, which picks up when you get in the car, and turns on automatically. The device also uses low energy battery technology, so charging is kept to a minimum !

The Parrot Minikit Plus is available from most electronic stores & online stores and retails for around R899, although I see Takealot.com has it at the moment for R749 which is a bargain !
