  • Check out my awesome instagram canvas

Remember a while back I told you about Printwild. Well, I decided to get myself an A2 canvas of a collection of mine and the wifes instagram pics we have taken over the last couple of months. I saw Dean on Twitter did this a while ago, and I was really keen to do something similar.

We picked it up on Friday and am really stoked with the results ! Check…

A few people have asked me how I did it, so here is a quick rundown. Can’t promise it will work, but I played around quite a bit to get it to look the way I want

    • Download all your images from instagram using Copygram. An awesome awesome tool that allows you to download every single instagram pic you have ever taken.
    • Once I had chosen which images I wanted, I opened them in Adobe Bridge which comes with Photoshop. In there, I sorted the photos in the order I wanted, and then exported it to a PDF. I worked out the size of the canvas, and then how many images I could get across & down. As you can see above, using the standard 612×612 instagram resolution, I managed to get 80 images on the A2 canvas
    • Once I had the PDF, I opened it in Photoshop, made slight changes here and there, and then exported to JPG
    • Uploading to Printwild was seriously a breeze. It took less than 5 mins, and I had my canvas printed in my hands within 4 days. Very cool
I am hoping to take this up with me to the iPhoneography exhibition, so you can have a look see there if you are attending (Don’t forget to RSVP if you are )
  • Printwild – Order your Canvas Printing online

I came across quite a cool service the other day who are also based in Ballito, where I live. The service, called PrintWild,  is an online service that allows you to order a whole wide variety of photographic canvases & photographic prints.
The process is pretty simple, you chose your image, upload it, chose your canvas size & they deliver it to you anywhere in South Africa for free (for orders over R300). Easy !!. They also do standard glossy prints which start at R23 for an A4 print. The stretched canvas prints start at R323 for an A4. Check out their full price list here.

Here is more info on the service from their site:

PrintWild takes your favourite image and turns it into a wide format canvas, acrylic or glossy print. PrintWild uses only the highest quality machine, ink and paper to produce exceptional canvas prints, acrylic prints and glossy prints in full colour, sepia or black & white.
The output quality is second to none and the canvas print or photo print is guaranteed not to fade in 75 years. We will arrange delivery of your canvas print or glossy print to anywhere in South Africa free of charge for orders over R300.

I am busy putting together a collage of some of my instagram pics (thanks to Dean for the idea) and want to have it printed on an A2 stretched canvas. As soon as I have it done, I will post a pic up here of what it looks like. Can’t wait to see the final results. If you keen on seeing some of the services that PrintWild offer, check out their site @ www.printwild.co.za

  • Worlds easiest Scone Recipe

    Worlds easiest Scone Recipe

I came across this really awesome recipe on the very cool local Nom-Nom blog, run by Conrad & his wife. They cover all sorts of cool foodie type things, check them out.

If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen this, but I thought I would re-post the worlds easiest scone recipe here. These are DIVINE, and with some jam & butter they rock. And, they cheap to make.

So, this is how you make them…

    • 500g Self Raising Flour
    • 1 Can of Sprite (No jokes)
    • 250ml Fresh cream

Bang them all together in a mixing bowl, and mix together, till all the ingredients mixed properly. Fill the mixture into a muffin tin (about ½ to¾ full) & bake for 20-25 mins at 180 degrees, and BOOM, you get this.

No lies. And they taste absolutely awesome. Try it, and let me know.

  • An exciting new adventure

If you follow me on Twitter & FB, you would have seen my exciting news earlier today where I “announced” that from the 15th of July I will officially be joining the Private Property team, here in Durbs, in the role of Mobile Product Manager. This is an amazing opportunity, and I honestly can’t wait to get started on it. Essentially my job will be to conceptualize & “design” mobile apps, across all platforms, as well as manage mobile web apps & everything associated with it. As you can see that will be just up my alley given my passion for mobile technology (especially “iDevice”) as seen on this blog.

I leave Derivco after an awesome 3 years there, where I learnt so much. Derivco is a fantastic place to work, and it was an honour to join some of the best minds in both the online gaming industry & South Africa. I made some great friends & connections there, and I am sure I will miss the 12 o’clock lunchtime queues.

Strangely enough, the position at Private Property came totally out of the blue, and I even more peculiarly I got referred to them by a friend who reads my blog. If I can give one piece of advice, keep your Linkedin profile updated !! Yip, I didn’t have to submit a CV. Thanks to this site, Linkedin, Facebook & Twitter, I got this job :)

And I can’t wait to be there on the 15th ;)

  • Quick Global Trader update

It’s been a while since I did a blog post about my Global Trader share trading experience. But if you have follow me on Twitter, you would have seen some of the trades I have been making.

Thanks to the ever patient Georgie (aka @shera247), we have made some pretty good trades over the last few weeks, after our rather rocky start at the beginning of the campaign.

I have been using the very cool tool that GT247 offer, that I have spoken about before, called “The Wire“. Basically it is a realtime stream, very similar to twitter, that shows you the live trades that other people on the platform have made. This is interesting to watch when there is a currency fluctuation or something, as it flies by.

I have also been playing around in the FREE simulated trading platform, making my own trades and buying and selling with no worries. I am 10% on the simulated platform, but made some interesting calls.

A very interesting call we made this week was Massmart. As you may have heard the sale of 51% of Massmart to Walmart, was approved earlier this week. The share shot up for a bit, and left us in the clear for a while. Checking back today, I see it is a little down, but not too concerning.

Even though my GT247 time is almost up, I will most definitely be keeping an eye on the Stock Markets, but also on the currencies, which really seem to be pretty volatile. As soon as I have wrapped up, I will do a full blog post of my trades so you can see how it all went.
