Last night at around 21:30 I was going through my tweets when I saw a whole whack of people in Joburg that were saying there had been an earth tremor around Jozi. By the sounds of things it was pretty widespread with people in Fourways to the east saying the felt it.
I did some research this morning and came across the Geoscience.org.za website, who reported it to be a 2.8 magnitude tremor on the Richter scale.
At least once a day, I see a car almost getting taken out at a traffic circle. People STILL don’t know how to use them, even though they are so simple. This one is from the Joblog boys. Posted back in ’05, and still so very relevant every single day (Thanks Guys)
The diagram above illustrates your everyday traffic circle, or roundabout as some may know it.
Contrary to popular belief, you may not drive wherever the hell you like on whatever side of the road you have chosen i.e. left or right. This diagram shows clearly which direction you may go, depending on which side of the road you are driving.
1. The yellow arrow indicators show you that there are only TWO (2) possible directions to take when on the left hand side of the road, or, outside lane.
2. The blue arrow indicators show that there are also TWO (2) possible directions to take when on the right hand side of the road, or, inside lane.
3. The red indicator arrows show when some idiot decides to take the road-law into his own hands, ending up in an accident, often resulting in an angry argument and possibly a restraining order for use of bad language and throwing punches.
You may be wondering where the blue indicator arrows go to from there? Well, my dears, the rules start all over again. They may go straight, or right again. It’s that simple.
If you were lucky enough to be at the Tri Nations game on Saturday, you may have seen a couple of guys on the side of the field, taking what is a HUGE Hi-Res picture of the game, just as the Haka was being performed. The image is made up from a series of around 80,000 individual images, using specialized photo equipment, which is then stitched up and then edited into 1 final picture. You can literally zoom into every single person in the stadium and see their faces close up. If you find yourself or someone you know, you can also tag them, and choose to share it on Facebook or Twitter.
To get an idea of the quality of the hi res image, this is a screenshot of some of the spectators right at the top of the stadium. Crystal clear. Be warned though. You will spend loads and loads of time browsing through the picture, it’s incredible !!
Here is a snapshot of the dudes trying to break the world record for the most Elvis’s in 1 place.
I hate using my blog as a platform to rant, and run down South African companies, but for the 2nd time in a month, Cell C have just got my goat. First they go with a “fantastic” concept of Photocode, who have had a WHOPPING 15,000 downloads since they launched almost a month ago. wooot !
But today, they really pissed me off. CellC have a press conference which announces a new look logo, and tagline, and then surprise surprise, they announce Trevor Noah as their new “Consumer Experience Officer (CEO) geddit. CEO. Laugh OUT fuckin Loud.

This comes off the back off a FULL page newspaper adviertisment in the Sunday Times (about R200k) this last Sunday (Memeburn Story), that started out “Dear Trevor Noah”. They go on to aplogise about their CRAP quality network, after Trever knocked them during a stand up gig.
The stand up gig was “filmed” and the video was uploaded to Youtube. But get this. The video was uploaded 4 days before the advert ran, on the 28th July, by a user (SABobbyT)who had also joined YouTube on the 28th, and has a total of 1 video in their collection.
Tonight Trevor Noah has his own TV show starting on Mnet. I can only guess that the show will be sponsored by CellC.
I can’t understand how a Cell Phone operator can associate themselves with a stand up comedian. Yes, he is good, but really, he does the freakin on hold voice for Kulula’s call centre!! I think the joke is on CellC this time. “I know, I’m gonna let Trevor Noah know how shit Cell C really is” Hey Trev, if you read this, please like it on Facebook. Kthanx.
Dunno why, but am slightly pissed with being made a fool of. Anyways, this is my rant for the day/week/year. :)
You may have heard of Cobus Potgieter. In fact, if you haven’t, stop reading now, and click on this link, and watch some of his amazing YouTube videos -> http://www.youtube.com/deedlebag
You check. He is insane on the drums. His one video, a cover of Face by Red Jump Suit Apparatus has over 2.5 MILLION views. And guess what, he is a boytjie from Bloemfontein. Yip. From the good old SA.
But his latest video is, for me, awesome. Cobus teamed up with another YouTube rockstar, Tyler Ward, who lives in the US, and did a collaboration over 2 continents !!! They did a cover of Flo Riders Club Can’t Handle Me. Cobus played the drums, and Tyler did the vocals and gituars. Cobus then mixed the video tgether, and produced this insane video
Very cool !! Just goes to show that this internet thing they talk of, is huge. A music video collaborated over 2 continents !!
